Eduspaces and Scholar Furniture

Scholar Furniture in Collaboration with Eduspaces 

We recently teamed up with ‘Eduspaces’ and played around with classroom layouts for their newly built, flexible, custom-designed buildings.

Eduspaces was launched to solve the difficulties schools often face when dealing with space issues because of increased roll growth and a lack of space in general.

Owner of Eduspaces Natalie Kirk experienced this first-hand as a Deputy Principal when searching for temporary classroom solutions for her school. Dissatisfied with the long delays and unsuitable options available, Natalie teamed up with two construction experts with a combined experience of over 50 years in construction in the education sector: husband Daniel Kirk and father Darrell Osborne. Together, they used their industry-specific expertise to create Eduspaces, a quick, cost-effective solution to Kiwi schools at capacity and in dire need of more space.

We jumped at the chance to collaborate on this project and get creative with our furniture in the ‘Eduspaces’ classrooms. We wanted to create a fun modern learning environment, and with a space that was so versatile and clearly designed with the student and teacher in mind, we found it easy to incorporate some of our favourite Scholar products.

A significant amount of natural light and a nice amount of space allowed us to use fun bright colours as we set up the classroom. ‘Luna tables’ and ‘form chairs’ were added for a more formal working space, as well as ‘Halo’ cushions for relaxed times on the mat. We incorporated active seating in our rocking Nurus ‘Lips’ and ‘Mogoo’ stools. These were a great addition for children that preferred to rock gently to help them concentrate when listening to their teacher. And finally, our bright blue ‘modular collaborative furniture’ were used which were a hit with the kids for reading and small group work.
